How To Properly Use A Fume Hood

1. The operator should keep a distance of more than 150mm from the adjustment door at any time when working in front of the fume hood.

2. The movement should be small when taking out items from the cabinet.

3. When not working, make sure that the glass window is closed.

4. Adjusting the deflector needs to be carried out under the guidance of the manufacturer or qualified personnel.

5. Elevate the pollutants and equipment in the cabinet and separate them from the ventilation counter panel so that the airflow can pass under it.

6. If necessary items or equipment need to be stored in the fume hood, they should be placed on the left and right sides as far as possible and away from pollution sources. Do not store items or equipment that will stick out of the cabinet or interfere with the opening and closing of the adjustable glass windows, or block the opening under the air deflector.

7. Minimize large movements in the fume hood and in front of the adjustment door.

8. When working in front of the fume hood, the movement of personnel in the laboratory should be minimized. If the personnel move frequently in front of the fume hood, a large amount of cross airflow will be caused.

9. At any time during the experiment of the fume hood, the head and upper body of the personnel must not extend into the fume hood.
