Correct Placement Of Fume Hood Equipment And Materials

1. The equipment should be placed as far as possible deep inside the fume hood, and should be at least 15 to 20 cm away from the adjustment door.

2. If the equipment is too long to extend out of the adjustment door, or the position is enough to affect the opening or closing of the adjustment door.

3. When the height of the device is more than 10 cm, there needs to be an airflow channel under the device. Stainless steel brackets can be used to elevate the device. Hollow or hole-shaped brackets can reduce the interference to the airflow.

4. It should be avoided to put too much equipment and instruments in the fume hood, and the total area of equipment or other equipment in the fume hood should not exceed 50% of the area of the countertop.

5. If you need to use equipment or instruments that require power in the fume hood, you should pay more attention to the grounding of the equipment to reduce the possibility of sparks. The power cord should be pulled out from the air inlet below, and the external power socket should also have a complete and certified grounding facility.

6. There is a high heat load device in the cabinet, and its heat source will cause the air flow in the cabinet to change and affect the surface wind speed below the opening of the glass window of the fume hood. Thermals increase the surface wind speed below the glass window opening and decrease the surface wind speed in the upper half of the opening.

7. Since there are generally countercurrents and eddy currents in the upper part of the fume hood and behind the adjustment door, it is necessary to avoid a large amount of airflow disturbance in these two parts.
