Happy Lantern Festival

The Lantern Festival, also known as the "Yuanxiao Festival" or the "Festival of Lanterns," falls on the 15th day of the first month of the Chinese lunar calendar. It marks the end of the Chinese New Year celebrations and is considered a time for family reunions and joy.

This festival is deeply rooted in ancient traditions and legends. One popular legend tells the story of a dragon that tries to swallow a magical pearl, causing chaos and destruction. To save the people, a young girl named Niulang (Cowherd) and his love, the fairy Zhinv (Weaver Maid), are separated by the river known as the Milky Way. However, once a year, on the 15th day of the first lunar month, they are allowed to reunite, forming a bridge of magical birds across the river. This legend symbolizes the importance of family unity and love, and the Lantern Festival is often referred to as the "Chinese Valentine's Day."
